Personal, Educational, & Professional Background
I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and I'm proud to be a true Texan! Currently, I live in the Heights area and have been enjoying city life for the past few years.
My family and friends are incredibly important to me, and I cherish spending time with them, making memories together.
When I'm not working, I love engaging in activities like indoor cycling or any outdoor activity whenever the weather allows. I also enjoy catching up on the latest reality shows and exploring new places through travel.
Helping others and forming meaningful connections have always been passions of mine. It's an honor to use my skills to support individuals, families, and couples as they navigate challenging situations and relationships.
My primary goal is to foster growth and self-acceptance while walking alongside my clients on their journey to healing and personal development.
Since 2018, I have been offering mental health and relational services to teens, families, and couples, including premarital and marriage counseling. Over the years, I have gained valuable professional experience in various settings.
In private practice, I have worked with families, children, and teens aged 8 to 18, addressing challenges like anxiety, depression, life transitions, communication issues, co-parenting, and other relational dynamics.
As a couples therapist and marriage counselor, I have helped couples overcome relational distress, improve communication, and strengthen their connection. Witnessing couples come together after working through tough times brings me joy.
I also specialize in pre-marital counseling using a program called Prepare and Enrich, which sets relationships up for success.
My experience extends to working with adolescents facing severe eating disorders and their families. In this area, I am trained to diagnose eating disorders and address co-occurring mental health issues. My approach focuses on building healthy coping skills and providing support and education to families involved.
I draw upon various therapeutic approaches in my practice, including solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. My belief is that each person possesses inner strength to create change and live a meaningful life.
As your therapist, I am here to help you discover and embrace those strengths in your journey towards growth and fulfillment.
My journey to becoming a therapist began with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M, where I majored in psychology. During my studies, my passion for helping others merged with my growing interest in understanding mental health and how the world affects us.
After completing my Bachelor's degree, I pursued a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. This program equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to work effectively with individuals, families, and couples facing challenges.
Additionally, it instilled in me a strong belief in advocating for the relationships we nurture in our lives.
