Personal Background
My family is incredibly important to me, as it is for many people. In 2014, I married my husband, and together we have a beautiful daughter who keeps us busy and brings us immense joy. Our free time revolves around creating personal experiences for our daughter, spending time with extended family, and having fun with our two dogs in the yard.
In my upbringing, discussions about mental health and therapy were avoided until it became necessary for all of us to seek support. Once we embarked on our therapeutic journey, it transformed our perspectives on seeking help and making positive changes in our lives. This experience ignited my passion for social work and set me on the path to becoming a therapist.
Professional Background
I have been fortunate to gain experience working with children and teens in various settings. My background as an educator has given me insight into the challenges adolescents face in the classroom and school environment.
Throughout my career, I have supported children dealing with various difficulties such as trauma, divorce, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, anxiety, and depression.
I have witnessed firsthand the unique impact of social pressures like bullying, perfectionism, and social media on this generation of adolescents. Recognizing the changes in the world and its effects on young individuals, I was drawn to the field of clinical social work.
My journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University in San Marcos in 2011. For over 10 years, I worked as an educator in the public school system. This experience eventually led me to pursue a Masters in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.
During my studies, I had the privilege of interning for a community program that assesses children and families for Parental Alienation and provides support in high-conflict divorce situations. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I have been able to offer therapy services to individuals of various ages, ranging from 5 years old to adults, in the Pasadena and Sugarland areas.
My Approach to Therapy
I believe in creating a personalized plan to support each individual on their journey towards positive change. My approach to treatment is eclectic, meaning I draw from various therapeutic modalities to tailor the therapy to the specific needs of the client.
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy, all while maintaining a trauma-informed and client-centered perspective.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients is essential to me. I want them to feel connected to their experience and view my office as a safe, comfortable space that brings them joy each week.
I understand the significance of involving clients in developing goals and objectives during treatment, as it fosters a deeper connection to their desired outcomes.
Throughout the therapeutic process, I maintain open communication with both clients and their parents, as I believe this is key to success. By keeping the lines of communication open, we can work together towards achieving positive and meaningful changes in their lives.
